7 Inspirational Steps to Getting Your Act Together

Welcome to these important first steps to getting your act together.

I am delighted you have decided to take your career seriously and do something about making sure you are working towards achieving the best possible opportunities for your act. Note I say, ‘your act’ not you.

This is step number 2

  • Learn to differentiate yourself from the act you perform.

Rather like an actor or actress taking on a role in a play. Some people find this easier if they choose a Stage Name for the act. I did so twenty odd years ago, with the help of my family, who came up with all sorts of names for me. One of which was ‘Christianne Summers’ I’m kind of glad we didn’t choose that one in the end, given the current day connotations of the Anne Summers brand. It would not have exactly gone with the image I want to portray. I found by choosing a stage name it helped me to start to create the act. I actually refer to Sarah Dennis as if she is a totally different person to me. When I am getting ready for a gig, I’ll say to my hubby.

‘I’m just going upstairs to change into Sarah Dennis’.
